We only have three rehearsals until our dress rehearsal for our concert!!!!  Please make every effort to attend class and be on time!!!!  Also, please practice daily, deliberately with and without Smartmusic!!!

PreSoli– This week we listened to our homework!  Good attempts at learning both songs (Happy Birthday and Twinkle).  Today we learned Twinkle with our monkey rhythm!  See how much you can remember in your practice time this week.  Especially focus on getting G ready when playing open A. Work very carefully on making sure you place your bow on one string at a time.  Today we also worked on our D major scale going up and down the D and A strings.  This week’s homework: keep your fingers close to the strings.  Practice lifting them only enough to get off the string.

First Part of Twinkle: D-D-A-A-B-B-A—G-G-F#-F#-E-E-D—

Hot Cross Buns:

F#-E-D—F#-E-D—DDDDEEEEF#-E-D—

Here is the entire song of Bonnie James Campbell to continue to practice:

D-E-G-G-AGE-G–D-E-G-B-AGE-D(repeat) D—B—AGE-G–D-E-G-B-AGE-D (repeat)

SoliPrelude– Work on Cripple Creek(#188) in your book.  Learn all the notes on both lines this week!  Make sure you log in to Smartmusic and work on your assignments!  Practice D major scale and arpeggio. When playing the scale use a variety of rhythm patterns including one quarter note per pitch, 2 quarter notes per pitch and Running Running Stop Stop rhythm. Practice long, slow bows and keep working on your concert music. Take a look at Ode to Joy in your book (Line 86). Violins/Violas use 4th finger instead of open A when marked in your music.
