SoliMezzo– Begin practicing your new sheet music: La Boca Grande, Loch Lomond, Sailor’s Song and Pirates of the Caribbean.  Focus on your posture and tone this week in your practice time.  Also, work with a metronome and practice dividing the beat in half at many different speeds (tempi).  Remember to check for and complete Smartmusic Assignments.  This week we worked on La Boca Grande with good bow lifts and correct style.  We also worked in Pirates starting measure 23.  Listen carefully to your intonation!!!!!!!!!

SoliChamber– Counting and Tone!  Work on your new sheet music and start working on your Smartmusic Assignments!  Also, practice with a metronome different divisions of the beat.  Divide in twos(eighth notes) and threes (triplets) and combinations of the two.  Today we worked on the beginning of Star Wars and Gauntlet.  Practice measures 16-20 in Star Wars very slowly and intentionally.  Violins and violas, especially, get your notes and rhythms learned in these measures so we can put it together next week.  In Gauntlet, spend some time practicing with a metronome and be careful not to rush quarter notes.  Also, focus on the diagonal movement of the first finger from E on the D string to B-flat on the A string.  Spring Breezes is on Smartmusic.  We will be giving you your own next week, but until then, take a few moments and spend some time familiarizing yourself with the song.
